Kinder Violin Lessons are a small, group violin lesson for kinder-aged children, under the playful and knowledgeable tuition of Jayne.
Classes are very small, being capped at 3-4 children per group.
These lessons are a chance to learn the basics of violin with other beginners, before launching into private lessons!
Violin is regarded as an instrument with the closest tonality to a child’s voice. These classes are the natural progression for Kindergarten-aged children to begin applying their musicianship and vocal work from the formative years onto an instrument.
To begin with, each child is fitted to a violin that they then take home with them throughout the term.
Lessons incorporate play-based learning with musical games, singing, rhythm work and musicianship skills!
Formal note reading does not take place until the children are ready. This allows optimum time to develop good technique, and doesn’t overwhelm the children with the pressure of learning to read, when a child of this age is often not cognitively ready.
Our work is therefore pitch orientated, using simple tunes and speech based rhythms and rhymes, transferred onto the instrument.
